Key Takeaways
- Ajman Media City (AMC) publishes four annual packages, from AED 4,999 with no visa up to AED 22,999 with three visas (AMC package page, October 2026).
- Renewing the same four packages costs AED 4,999, 8,999, 10,999 and 14,999, in that order.
- Every package includes up to 10 activities, up to 10 shareholders and co-working space. The prices are the zone's own packages, not a government tariff.
- The package page says nothing about value added tax (VAT) or how long the licence runs. Get both answers from AMC on your written quote.
The Ajman Media City free zone (AMC) prints the visa count right next to the price of each annual package. That makes it easy to compare for a freelancer or a small media, technology or consultancy business on a tight budget. What the prices leave out is less obvious, and so is how AMC compares with Ajman Free Zone. Both are covered below, and for the wider picture there's company setup in the UAE.

What the Ajman Media City free zone is
Ajman Media City is a free zone in Ajman, which means an area with its own authority that licenses companies under its own rules. It's aimed at media, technology, creative, consultancy and e-commerce companies, and its website is amc.gov.ae. Like Ajman Free Zone, it comes under the Free Zones Authority of Ajman. AMC says owners can be 100% foreign, that you don't need a local sponsor and that you can run the business virtually. Those are the zone's own claims, so check them against the licence you're actually quoted.
Who the packages suit
Business Club comes with no visa. It suits an owner who already has UAE residence, or who doesn't need a visa through this company yet. If you do need a residence visa, Visionary is the first package that includes one. AMC focuses on media, technology, creative, consultancy and e-commerce. A business outside those fields should also look at Ajman Free Zone, which licenses commercial, industrial and sole professional activities.
Freelancers should know that AMC doesn't call any of its four packages a freelancer licence. Ajman Free Zone does have a sole professional licence, and what it says about visas for that licence is in the guide to the Ajman free zone visa.
Ajman Media City licence cost across the four packages
Use the table to see what each package costs in the first year and at renewal, and how many visas it includes (AMC package page, October 2026). The price goes up with the number of visas.
| Package | Visas | Annual price | Renewal |
|---|---|---|---|
| Business Club | 0 | AED 4,999 | AED 4,999 |
| Visionary | 1 | AED 12,999 | AED 8,999 |
| Pioneer | 2 | AED 17,999 | AED 10,999 |
| Innovator | 3 | AED 22,999 | AED 14,999 |
All packages include up to 10 activities, up to 10 shareholders and co-working space. They're zone packages, not a government tariff. The three packages with visas renew for less than their first-year price, while Business Club renews at the same price.
Visa and insurance costs outside the package
A visa costs more than the package price, and the extra fees differ from zone to zone. In Dubai, for example, the schedule of charges of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) lists its establishment card at AED 1,825 a year (October 2026). The establishment card is the immigration record that lets a company sponsor visas. The Emirates ID fee charged by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) goes up with the number of years of residence. The medical test fee depends on the centre. Health insurance comes on top, and the u.ae government portal lists a basic package at AED 320 a year (September 2026).
Ajman Media City or Ajman Free Zone
Pick by activity first. After that, compare the visa count, the renewal price and how you plan to sell. Ajman Free Zone (AFZ) is built around sectors such as food and beverage, automotive, health and construction, and around freelancers. AMC is built around media, technology and consultancy. The two zones also show their prices differently. AMC prints the visa tier next to each price, while AFZ uses a cost calculator and says in its FAQ that visa allocation depends on the package and location.
Then think about where your customers are. If they're in the UAE, read about the Ajman mainland licence before you pay for a zone. The Ajman Free Zone setup guide explains the rule on selling through a distributor.
Next steps and questions for the zone
Send AMC these five questions and keep the replies:
- Is each package price before or after VAT?
- How long does the licence run, and from which date does the year start?
- Which legal forms are allowed, and what minimum capital applies?
- Is the government fee for each visa included in the package price?
- Can the company trade on the mainland, and if so, how?
Once you have the licence, tax comes next. Under Decision 3 of 2024 from the Federal Tax Authority (FTA), a company incorporated on or after 1 March 2024 must register for Corporate Tax within 3 months of incorporation (as of October 2026). A free zone company can pay Corporate Tax at 0% if it counts as a Qualifying Free Zone Person, meaning it meets the conditions for that rate. A corporate tax consultant can test whether yours does before you file.
An adviser can get the written quote from AMC for you and compare it with one from Ajman Free Zone.
